It is always great to watch live performances, but performances with Hank Williams Sr. are extra special because they are rare. Hank Sr. died young but in those short years he gave us more music than any present artist has in the same timeline. What would Hank have been like if he lived longer? Would the star burn out, reinvent himself, or retire from the business? From what we know of Hank Sr, he certainly would not retire.
“A Different World” singer Bucky Covington will play at the Greencastle, Pennsylvania’s Carnival that is being continued by Green Grove Gardens since the announcement was made that the Firemen’s Carnival will no longer be held due to the sale of the land that the carnival was held on. The carnival will still be a Snyder’s Amusements event and will be held from July 2-7. Bucky will be playing July 5th at 7pm at the Antrim Way Honda Stage at Green Grove Gardens and the concert is free. Family nights will be held all week from 6:30 to 10pm and wristbands are $20.
It is finally the end of the work week for many Mudcat listeners and the beginning for those weekend workers. Travis Tritt is a great reminder as to why we wake up every morning and be the best that we can be. In these sad days in country music, good songs like this one, that put you in the mood of something wonderful, are rare. Give a listen to “It’s a Great Day To Be Alive” below.
Son of country legends Waylon Jennings and Jessi Colter, Shooter Jennings announced on his website that new album will be released on August 10th. Unlike his last album, this one will be a country one. We already play one of the songs that will be included on the album, “Do You Love Texas.” You can preorder the album here: http://elektrar.ec/ShooterAlbum
A long haired and bearded singer/songwriter from Lexington, Kentucky, Justin Wells, currently has one studio album that he released in 2016 “Dawn In The Distance.” The song, “The Dogs,” is one of the songs that can be found on this album and a song that we recently added to the Mudcat Country Playlist. If you like new country music that actually sounds like country music then this is your guy! He is one of the many artists who are blocked by the mainstream radio when he should be ruling it.
The tides are changing in country music and sooner than later these guys will be heard. With Chris Stapleton being a new mainstream favorite and Sturgill Simpson winning album of the year in 2017, it just shows that real music is returning.
This song seems fitting for a Friday don’t you think? George Jones was the king of country and still is in many ways. He died on April 26, 2013 and left behind a legacy of songs that are still being recorded today (Tennessee Whiskey – Chris Stapleton), and loving country fans from around the world. Turn up your speakers on what ever device you are on and listen to “Finally Friday.” Do it for the Possum!
The Steel Blossoms are set to release their new album and have set up a Pledge Music campaign to help support it! As of today, only 20 days are left until this campaign runs out and they are only 87% towards their goal. The Steel Blossoms may seem familiar to some listeners because we play their song, “Dancing in the Kitchen” here on Mudcat Country and can’t wait to add a few from their new album because in our opinion, the Steel Blossom’s music has value.
In their Pledge Music campaign, they have too many prizes to list. The minimum is $9 and it will get you an Access Pass, which is downloads of their new album, including behind the scenes updates. For $1000, which is the max, you will get the new CD signed by the Steel Blossoms, a Shout Out on Social Media, your name in the liner notes, and Life-time appreciation. The Steel Blossoms offer well over a dozen of other offers in between those prices ($9-$1000).
Be sure to share this post on your social media and head over to the Steel Blossoms Pledge Page and reserve your copy of their new CD today!
The Red Headed Stranger is still making music well into his 80s! The country legend is set to release a new album this year titled, “Last Man Standing” on April 27. Welcome to Mudcat Country Radio! We are a new and independent country radio station from Greencastle, PA. We separate ourselves from other radio stations simply because we only play country music that has some sort of value, or feeling. We sift through all the new pop country and find the golden nuggets hidden from the mainstream. Though we are not yet up and running, feel free to find us on Facebook and connect with us! We would love your input!
