Travis Tritt posted on Facebook yesterday that he will be part of a new TV show that will premiere in October on USA Network called, “Real Country.” Findings from an article by the Tennessean seem to describe the show as similar to “The Voice” or “American Idol.” Each of the showcases will feature a sub-genre of country music (Tennessean, 2018). Artists will be chosen to compete in a grand finale at the end by Travis Tritt, Shania Twain, and Jake Owen.
Aside from the TV show, Tritt says that he hopes to bring real country music back to the mainstream and says that he will not fail in doing so. The staff at Mudcat Country has high hopes that he is successful in bringing back country music that has value.
Son of country legends Waylon Jennings and Jessi Colter, Shooter Jennings announced on his website that new album will be released on August 10th. Unlike his last album, this one will be a country one. We already play one of the songs that will be included on the album, “Do You Love Texas.” You can preorder the album here: http://elektrar.ec/ShooterAlbum
A long haired and bearded singer/songwriter from Lexington, Kentucky, Justin Wells, currently has one studio album that he released in 2016 “Dawn In The Distance.” The song, “The Dogs,” is one of the songs that can be found on this album and a song that we recently added to the Mudcat Country Playlist. If you like new country music that actually sounds like country music then this is your guy! He is one of the many artists who are blocked by the mainstream radio when he should be ruling it.
The tides are changing in country music and sooner than later these guys will be heard. With Chris Stapleton being a new mainstream favorite and Sturgill Simpson winning album of the year in 2017, it just shows that real music is returning.
This song seems fitting for a Friday don’t you think? George Jones was the king of country and still is in many ways. He died on April 26, 2013 and left behind a legacy of songs that are still being recorded today (Tennessee Whiskey – Chris Stapleton), and loving country fans from around the world. Turn up your speakers on what ever device you are on and listen to “Finally Friday.” Do it for the Possum!
The Steel Blossoms are set to release their new album and have set up a Pledge Music campaign to help support it! As of today, only 20 days are left until this campaign runs out and they are only 87% towards their goal. The Steel Blossoms may seem familiar to some listeners because we play their song, “Dancing in the Kitchen” here on Mudcat Country and can’t wait to add a few from their new album because in our opinion, the Steel Blossom’s music has value.
In their Pledge Music campaign, they have too many prizes to list. The minimum is $9 and it will get you an Access Pass, which is downloads of their new album, including behind the scenes updates. For $1000, which is the max, you will get the new CD signed by the Steel Blossoms, a Shout Out on Social Media, your name in the liner notes, and Life-time appreciation. The Steel Blossoms offer well over a dozen of other offers in between those prices ($9-$1000).
Be sure to share this post on your social media and head over to the Steel Blossoms Pledge Page and reserve your copy of their new CD today!
